Norman Zimmerman and son Eric have a processing plant for poultry and also raise turkeys on their farm. Norman says: My turkeys are started in portable shelters, at three weeks of age the doors are opened to give them access to a large green pastures on my 175 acre farm. They certainly enjoy life to the fullest in the the great outdoors and never seem to tire of pecking and exploring.The pasture mix consists of clover, alfalfa, Timothy and orchard grass, which provides an excellent diet high in protein which they need to grow.I also supplement them with a corn /soybeanblend .(I grow and grind the corn right here on the farm) while not all my corn is non-GMO at this point ,it is something I am working toward.
